The 5th Petrichor International Music Competition

Competition Update: We will begin announcing results on July 28, with all categories posted on the website by July 31. Winners, finalists, and semi-finalists will be contacted directly.

Eligibility

This competition is open to instrumentalists, singers, ensembles, and composers of all ages and nationalities. All musicians are welcome to apply. The Petrichor Artistic Panel and the jurors will carefully review submissions individually and without regard for age, nationality, gender, or musical style.

Instruments

All instrumentalists and singers are eligible to participate in the performance categories.

Repertoire

There is no specific repertoire required to participate in this competition. Each performer has the freedom to determine which piece or pieces to perform. The selected piece could be drawn from a standard repertoire, composed by a living composer, or an original work by the performer. The chosen piece will not affect the jury's decision-making process. Singers may choose repertoire in any language.

Recording Category

Record labels are welcome to participate by uploading album audio files or providing a link to the album via a digital streaming service (e.g., Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube) or a file sharing service (e.g., Dropbox, Google Drive). Upcoming albums are accepted, and metadata is not required. You may submit excerpts of each track. You retain all rights to your work.

Entry Guidelines

  • All genres, instrumentation, and lengths are welcome.
  • No need to anonymize submissions.
  • You keep all rights to your work.
  • Piano and/or orchestral accompaniment is allowed.
  • Participants may apply in multiple categories with the same or different works.
  • Studio recording is not required; use the best available technology, including mobile devices or computers.
  • Videos may be live concert recordings or previously submitted elsewhere.
  • Each video must contain only one piece.
  • Multiple submissions are allowed, and each requires a separate entry fee.
  • All submissions are reviewed independently.

Why do we ask for submission fees?

Petrichor Records is an independent record label. We don't have any sponsors for our projects. These entry fees enable us to organize such a wide-ranging competition and offer over $60,000 in prizes to 72 winners and finalists.
